Van Ackeren family papers, 1917-1953.

This collection consists of letters by Francois Van Ackeren, a Belgian soldier in World War I and other members of his family to William McLain and his family of Brookline, MA. The letters, written in both French and English, fall predominately between the years 1917 to 1918 and 1945 to 1946. They discuss Francois's injury and convalesence during World War I, family matters, and the Van Ackeren's difficulty in re-establishing a normal life after the German occupation of Belgium in World War II.
